Battery & Charger Terms

Draft for legal review and compliance review before battery services begin.

Scope

These terms cover battery testing, replacement, supply, charger supply and handling of mobility-equipment batteries. Transportability will only undertake services within its competence, equipment, insurance and legal permissions.

Customer disclosure

Customers must disclose battery chemistry, known damage, swelling, leakage, overheating, impact, water ingress, modifications and any previous battery fault. Damaged or suspect batteries may be refused.

Lead-acid, AGM and gel batteries

Replacement batteries will be selected for compatibility with the equipment and charging system. Capacity, dimensions, terminals and charger compatibility should be checked before fitting.

Lithium batteries

Lithium battery handling is subject to additional safety considerations. Transportability will not open, rebuild or undertake cell-level repairs on lithium packs unless it has the necessary competence, procedures, equipment, insurance and legal compliance. Suspect or damaged lithium batteries may be refused.

Charging equipment

Chargers must be suitable for the battery and equipment. Customers should not use incompatible chargers. Transportability may refuse to supply or fit a charger where compatibility cannot be established.

Waste and recycling

Waste batteries will be handled through appropriate recycling/disposal arrangements. Where Transportability sells or supplies batteries, applicable producer, distributor and take-back obligations will be assessed and complied with.

Safety

Battery work may be stopped if continuing would create an unreasonable fire, electrical, chemical or handling risk.
